Many ve much kelimelerinin pozitif cümlelerde kullanılması, cümleye formal (resmi) bir anlam katar. Özellikle günlük kullanımda pozitif ifadelerde “a lot of”, negatif ifadelerde ve soru ifadelerinde “many” veya “much” tercih edilir. Many ve much kelimeleri en çok “how much” ve “how many” soruları şeklinde kullanılır. “How many” kaç tane anlamındadır.
-How many children are there in your school?
-There are 200 pupils in my school
-How many sheep are there in your flock?
-I have 100 sheep in my flock.
